What this experiment shows

The leading match moves from Square toward Round as the jaw corner softens, even though all three width ratios are unchanged. Near the transition, the runner-up remains useful information rather than an error to hide.

Inputs and method

We fix face length / cheek width at 1.26, forehead / cheek width at 0.89, jaw / cheek width at 0.91, and chin angle at 116°. We vary only the jaw corner angle from 132° to 160° in 4° steps. Each row uses the production seven-profile matcher, including its weights and rounding.

How to use this when reading your result

Use the detector as a guide to a contour, then read both leading profiles when they are close. For hairstyles or glasses, you can borrow ideas from both. Pulling hair away from the outline and using a consistent frontal photo makes comparisons easier, but does not turn a styling category into a biological fact.

What this experiment cannot tell you

These are chosen inputs to hand-set profiles, not a study of labelled faces. Match shares are normalized model similarities, not calibrated probabilities that a person belongs to a category. The boundary belongs to this version of this calculator.

Sources and calculation choices

This experiment tests AI Rate Face's own hand-set shape profiles. It has no external population dataset or clinical reference. The exact profiles and formula are included in the downloadable calculation code.
